NOMINATION PROCESS FOR DEACONS
Church members shall be given the qualifications of deaconship as approved by the Ooltewah Baptist Church.  Men who are presently serving as deacons shall be identified and declared ineligible for nomination.  (Jack Woods, Marvin Kirkpatrick, Patrick Woodard, Chuck Margraves, Scott Harrington, Doug Cawood, David Kilgore and Frank Kennedy.)'

After prayerfully reviewing the qualifications for deacon, church members shall be instructed to submit the names of men they feel led of God to nominate.  Each church member can nominate up to the number required that year to fill the Deacon Council.  All nomination forms must be signed by the church member making the nomination.  A potential candidate must receive at least three (3) nominations from members of the church to be considered in the process.  Potential candidates cannot be nominated by themselves nor immediate family members.

The Deacon Nominating Committee shall be composed of seven members: The Deacon Council chairman, vice-chairman, and secretary, two persons selected by the Deacon Council, and two persons from the church membership at-large.  These two at-large members of the committee shall be nominated by the church Nominating Committee after asking the church members to submit names of persons they would like to serve.  The two at-large members, which must be approved by the church, can be either male or female but shall not be deacons, either active or inactive.
