Preschool and Elementary Ministries of OBC

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..."

Matthew 19:14

In the Kid's Department at Ooltewah Baptist Church, we GATHER on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights to learn how to GROW in our relationship with Jesus.  Our kids then use that knowledge to SERVE others and SPEAK about Jesus to their friends and the community.

We want kids hearing about Jesus.  We want to guide them in their knowledge of spiritual things.  Be they  babies, our Pre-K kiddos, or our rapidly growing elementary students...their minds are sponges soaking up all that they can; we want that to be JESUS!

Sundays 9:15am-10:15am

On Sunday Mornings in our Preschool Grow Groups and in our  Elementary Grow Group our kids are using the Answers In Genesis Curriculum.

Children are presented the gospel, beginning in Genesis; training them to know, obey, and defend God's Word and encouraging them to become conformed to the image of Christ.

Answers Bible Curriculum is designed to provide answers to the questions and issues the confront our children in the media, from friends, etc.  It is our hope and prayer the God will use this curriculum to instill al lifelong trust in the Bible and in the God who authored it.

Wednesdays  6:30pm-7:30pm

PRESCHOOL
On Wednesday evening in the Discipleship Hour...

"Hands-On Bible Curriculum"
Jesus was the master at using creative objects—like coins, fish, and lilies—to connect eternal truths to everyday life.
With Hands-On Bible Curriculum, kids experience the same powerful connections between Scripture and everyday life by engaging all five of their senses. The Bible comes alive!

ELEMENTARY
This school year our kids will be rotating through some discipleship studies:

"The Quest"
An Expedition Toward a Deeper Relationship with God

• God created you to have a relationship with Him
• God is sending you on an adventure for Him as an ambassador.
• God loves to talk with you and wants to use your questions and the events in your life to bring you closer to God.

"Bible Science: Experiments In Faith"
God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Pure science will always point us back to our loving Creator. Memory Verse: “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.” -Job 5:9 (NIV)

"Defined: Who God Says I Am"
“Who am I?” is a question that many kids are being challenged to answer. To answer this question, we must first ask “Who does God say I am?” Beginning in Genesis, the Bible tells us that we are each made in God’s image, but that image has become distorted by sin. The only way to restore what was broken is through a relationship with Jesus. Through Defined: Who God Says I Am, kids will discover who God created them to be and what is true about their identity because of their relationship with Jesus.

"Unseen: The Armor of God  for Kids"
A 7-week study of Ephesians 6:10-17 helps equip kids to put on the Armor of God to fight life's battles. Each week develops an aspect of God's own character, as expressed through Jesus, through Bible study and fun learning activities.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Where do the kids meet?

A: PRESCHOOLAges (Infant - Pre-K)Location: Preschool Building
ELEMENTARYAges (K-5th)Location: Elementary Building

Q: What is the check-in procedure?

A: When you enter the Preschool building you will be greeted at our check in table.  Your child will be given a sticker with their name and an assigned number, and you will be given a label with the location of your child's classroom and a matching number.  After check in you will take your child to their classroom, our check in greeter will show you where you need to go. We do ask that parents not enter the rooms; our volunteers are happy to take your child's bag and receive your child and any directions you may have at the door. When you return to pick up your child, please bring your label with you so our volunteers can match it with the sticker your child is wearing.

Q: Where do my kids go during the worship service?

A: Kids of all ages are welcome and even encouraged to attend the 10:30 morning worship service alongside their parents.  That said... for parents needing another option for their 'littles', "Extended Session" is available in the Preschool Building  for kids Pre-K and younger during the 10:30am  worship service.
